Albania’s healthcare system is currently undergoing a major transformation with the aim to provide high quality healthcare service for the whole population, especially the disadvantaged groups. Since 2015 the Health for All Project (HAP), funded by the Swiss Agency for Cooperation and Development (SDC) and implemented by a Consortium led by the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) with Terre des hommes and Save the Children, is helping to promote public health in the regions of Diber and Fier. The project aims at improving the health of the people of the two regions, to benefit from better health through improved primary healthcare service and health promotion activities. With these objectives in mind, HAP has been investing in: Strengthening healthcare management: by offering trainings to develop management capacities to make primary healthcare services more efficient. Improving infrastructure: by rehabilitating infrastructure and providing basic equipment for better working conditions at primary healthcare centres. Enhancing transparency and accountability: by implementing transparency mechanisms, accountability tools and anti-corruption strategies to improve the quality of care in a patient-focused manner. Continuous Medical Education (CME): by providing CME activities to increase the skills of healthcare workers.
